Eviction Notice

I got an official eviction notice this afternoon. I don't understand what it says, except that I have only 5 business days to respond. That means that everything anyone had told me about eviction was wrong. I have no idea what can be done in that amount of time.

I do know this: I am not going to be homeless, as that would be fatal for me. If I die now, it won't be from heatstroke etc. The laws of society and its government amount to murder without justification and therefore require self-defense.

Good gravy. Five days? Do you have a tenant's union in your town, or belong to any organizations that might have an advocacy group who can help you sort through it?

This is the first I've ever heard "tenant's union". I doubt they have them down here, and I wouldn't know where to look. I don't belong to any organizations. I used to belong to a Buddhist organization until they threw me out for not wearing shoes. But they were very laissez-faire like most religious organizations these days, no hint of anything like an advocacy group. Anyway I'd still need to come up with the 4 months rent. My only hope has been that I might win the Fantasy 5.

Do you have any NGO nearby that offers legal advice? E. g. one supporting homeless people or somesuch, for which you'd be in the category at risk?

Perhaps it sounds stupid, but I'd try that myself if I couldn't afford a lawyer. But I'm in a very different country and society, and maybe don't understand your situation at all...

...Also, charities in one area are usually sort of in contact with each other, so even if you aren't immediately their client, they may point to somebody else who can help.

There may be. My problem is I don't know how to find them. That's one of the things my mental health problem interferes with, is finding things like that. I should have looked already.

Someone found a list of homeless shelters, but about all those do is provide a bunk to sleep in at night.

Your notion of mental health problems made me think of charities again. Since discrimination against people with such problems is commonplace, there must be NGOs that can provide legal advice (maybe para-professional, but anyway).
