2007-Oct-23, Tuesday 02:48I guess I'll start a new entry instead of edit the one I just did 2 hours ago.
I should be asleep since I have to be up by 0900 but I need to write this first. I was able to sleep for maybe an hour before waking up again. I dreamed I was working in real-time embedded systems again (although the hardware was weird -- there's always something in a dream that's strange). I realized I hadn't done that particular kind of work in almost 10 years (not counting the fiasco in Nashville), and that made me sad.
In my first college, I learned the analog synthesizer, but couldn't continue with it because I never had enough money, even when I worked full-time professionally while living with my parents.
Later, I worked on and off as an assembly-language programmer; again, the 8- and 16-bit processors I worked with are now obsolete. At least I was able to live on my own, buy a new car (the one that I recently lost), and save some money. At one point, I had over $30,000 in the bank, thanks to an inheritance, but I ended up having to live off it instead of making a down-payment on a house.
I don't know what's going to happen now; my housing program is temporary.
I'm good at having dreams, but bad at getting them fulfilled.
