I've been playing around with the syllabary idea (actually an abugida, I think). This is the current version:

  • 16 basic symbols by themselves,

  • 16 basic symbols + 2 diacritics,

  • 4 additional symbols in lieu of basic symbols + 3rd diacritic

  • punctuation (word separator, sentence terminator, perhaps notations for extra emphasis (on a particular word), whispering, shouting etc.)

The basic symbols encode consonant + high/low vowel, the diacritics are added for front vowel or back (rounded) vowel.

The orthographic values shown (upper case here) are prior to most of the phonetic changes -- all those except coda consonant + /l/, I think.

The special symbols (under 3rd) occur only before /l/.

The letters are the ones bearing the closest resemblance to the actual glyph.

none1st 2nd 3rd
1 F v PI v" PU v` P f
2 PA p PE p" PO p`
3 Z z TI z" TU z`
4 TA t TE t" TO t`
5 X e KI e" KU e` K w
6 KA k KE k" KO K
7 S s HI s" HU s`
8 HA o HE o" HO o`
A I U
9 N n BI n" BU n` MB m
10 BA b BE b" BO B
11 R r DI r" DU r`
12 DA d DE d" DO d`
13 Q j GI j" GU j` NG g
14 GA q GE q" GO q`
15 L y LI y" LU y`
16 LA l LE l" LO L

Edit: I forgot this part: there are special glyphs for KO, BO, and LO instead of the base symbol + 2nd diacritic; these are represented by K, B, and L, respectively in the table. The actual glyphs are like the base symbols, but with a loop at the top. (Also note, current music as of time of edit!)

There are some things that need to be greatly improved if I actually want to use this.
